Recently a news came into picture that South Korea’s government is planning to switch their operating system to Linux from
Windows 7.

Its because Windows 7 was released back in 2009 and its mainstream support ended in 2015, but now we are in 2019.

So why didn’t they choose Windows 10 then?

The main reason for this is money. Linux-based OS are very cheap compared to Windows 10. Government can save more money by opting Linux-based systems in their organisations.

Another reason is security.Linux-based systems are more secured compared to Windows 10 based systems.

According to Ministry of Interior and Safety, this switching of OS cannot be done right away.First the Linux-based system is tested for the compatability with the existing software and after successful testing this switching can be done to the entire system.
